Portfolio critique.
Welcome to our portfolio critique session 2011. You are fast approaching the point in time when you are required to create your portfolio. Your portfolio will take the form of a collection of artwork, photographs and any creative work you want to show to prospective employers or art college/university.
You will be invited to collate your artwork and sketchbooks as well as an online portfolio.
You may have a personal portfolio for a number of reasons. If you’re a freelancer, then you’d need one to showcase your work and allow people to contact you. If you’re a student (or unemployed), then you’d need one to show prospective employers how good you are and what you can do, so that they might hire you. If you’re part of a studio, then you might use one to blog about your design life, show people what you’re doing and build your presence.
A personal portfolio and portfolio website is all about promoting you. You are a brand, and your name is a brand name. No one is going to know about your brand unless you get it out there; and if you’re a Web designer, developer, writer, gamer or any other type of creative, then it’s essential that you have a good portfolio and online presence.
You have been requested to collate 6-10 pieces of artwork and to discuss your choices in an informal critique with your peers on Monday at 1pm.
We will use the screen in the Creative Loop room so bring your showreel in the form of a PDF or Powerpoint.
